“Warm and welcoming hosts” 5 of 5 stars

The Rockford Inn was a great find. The location was excellent and centrally located to many wineries. We enjoyed a warm welcome from Hannah the Inn Keeper. She was very helpful with recommendations to local wineries, restaurants, and things to do. She also made a spectacular breakfast! This is definitely a place I would love to return to.

“One of the BEST B&Bs ever - with character, comfort and history!” 5 of 5 stars

The setting is perfect for so many reasons - close to the Yadkin Valley Wineries, beautiful, quiet countryside and ahome that has been beautifully restored. The owners are the quintessential hosts that offered clean and comfortable rooms with character and a fantastic breakfast that was topped off with stories of the family. Their beautiful deck gave us a wonderful place to enjoy one of those bottles of wine we bought along the way too! We will definitely be traveling their way again to enjoy that Vineyard suite again!

“Warm, friendly - just like home.” 5 of 5 stars

Once again we stayed at the Rockford Inn Bed and Breakfast on our way down south to visit my brother in Florida. We returned because we had such a lovely stay the first time. Such friendly, comfortable hosts - like visiting family.

“Awesome Hospitality!!” 5 of 5 stars

Hannah was a great hostess. She saw that we were well cared for! The Rockford Inn is in a wonderful location near many wineries (approx. 30) in the Yadkin Valley Wine Region of North Carolina. You can also find horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking and hiking in the area as well as many excellent restaurants. The Inn was very clean and our suite, The Vineyard Suite, was very spacious and well appointed.

“Rockford Inn is what every B&B should be - warm and welcoming, with a sense of place and friendly hosts!” 5 of 5 stars

The Rockford Inn is the perfect spot for a getaway. The Inn is beautiful, with a sense of history (it's been in the family for over 150 years), and friendly hosts. Breakfast was terrific, with pecan crusted french toast, fresh fruit and sausage and bacon - mmmmm! We enjoyed a little antiquing nearby, and nearby wineries and restaurants are the perfect complement!

“Hannah & Doug were EXCEPTIONAL hosts and made us feel very welcome!” 5 of 5 stars

This is a BEAUTIFUL old home and Hannah and Doug were most gracious. The breakfasts were outstanding, the room was warm and cozy and it was the best getaway we've had in quite some time. I would recommend this bread and breakfast to anyone and plan on visiting again. It was the perfect place to stay and is easy accessible to so many winery's in the area!

“A wonderful place to stay while touring Yadkin Valley!” 5 of 5 stars

My husband recently stayed at the Rockford Inn, along with another couple. We have stayed at multiple B/Bs across the country, and this has to be in the top three. While we weren't initially sure how comfortable a historical old farmhouse would be, it was a pleasant surprise to find both our rooms roomy, decorated for the time but not overdone, with such a rich history in every nook! Our bed was great - very comforable (unlike some other places we've stayed). While close to the wineries and shops of Yadkin Valley, the "out of the way" feel was wonderful to relax on the front porch or back yard, watch the birds and the leaves changing, have a cup of hot tea. Breakfasts were "southern with a flair". I have fallen in love with stone cut grits! Hannah and Doug were what we look for in hosts - available, friendly, but not intrusive. Having grown up in the area, it was nice to hear the history of the home and nearby town of Rockford. We were very surprised to have all of this for what we consider an extremely reasonable price. I would have no reservation about recommending this as a relaxing weekend or longer, and hope we can return soon. Ben and Julie Bacon

“Peaceful and Serene” 5 of 5 stars

We recently made our second trip to The Rockford Inn. This low-key, unpretentious inn has become our escape of choice when we need a break from our hectic lives. Hannah and Doug have managed to create a place where you instantly feel welcomed. Guests have the complete run of the house (Hannah and Doug live next door) which adds to the comfortable, at-home feeling. There are always tempting snacks set out in the kitchen, plus coffee, tea and water/soda -- those little amenities that make such a big impact. Breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. We have stayed in the Blue Ridge Room and the Vineyard Suite, both were very nice, but the Vineyard Suite was more spacious. We like to go sit out on the back porch and enjoy the quiet. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a little peace in a hectic world!

“A great taste of country hospitality in a beautiful old town” 5 of 5 stars

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on our way back from Charleston, SC to Boston. Hannah and Doug are warm and competent hosts. We stayed in the Vineyard room which was private and very cozy. The house is Doug's "ancestral" home. It affords a genuine taste of what rural North Carolina life was like 100 plus years ago. Hannah fixes large delicious breakfasts and provides munchies which she leaves in the kitchen for eating throughout the day. We took excursions to the Shelton Vineyard and to the town of Mt Airy - better known as Mayberry (Andy Griffith's hometown.) I recommend visits to both these places.

“Rural (re)treat - make sure you stay here” 5 of 5 stars

We had a little trouble finding it (the sat nav kept directing us into the river!!) but when we did, we were so delighted. This is a picture perfect clapboard house. And we had it all to ourselves. No-one else was staying and the owners live next door. The Rockford Inn has been beautifully restored and refurnished. We had a suite on a whole floor above the kitchen which was gorgeous. There are great touches like a bottle of wine, magazines, easter eggs when we stayed and delicious brownies on the kitchen counter. Breakfast in the beautiful dining room was lovely and we really enjoyed chatting with Hannah and Doug. They are so friendly and drew us maps for everywhere we needed to go. When we came back in the evening, they showed us round and we talked for ages again with them on the back porch. Rockford itself is a really American picturesque oldy-worldy place with a fantastic general store and white clapboard church. It's ideally placed to visit Winston Salem or wineyards and the scenery is wonderful - rolling fields and so green. We wished we were staying longer and we compared everywhere else we stayed on our American adventure to The Rockford Inn. Really superb!

“A Bit of Heaven” 5 of 5 stars

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Rockford Inn, an historic home now serving as a B & B in an absolutely beautiful part of North Carolina. Hannah and Doug were excellent hosts and wonderful people. The accommodations were spotless, the grounds were beautifully maintained, and the breakfast was nothing short of outstanding. We stayed in the Vinyard Suite, which takes up the entire upper floor. It's very spacious and very nicely furnished. What a great night's sleep!!! My wife and I were attending a music festival in nearby Wilkesboro, but we discovered, with the help of Hannah and Doug, a wonderful winery or two and many more things to do in the area surrounding Rockford. We will absolutely return to this wonderful getaway spot.

“This was our 5th visit to Rockford Inn and each visit is like being with family.” 5 of 5 stars

I highly recomment this inn/B&B. Hannah and Doug are warm, accomodating people. Hannah's breakfasts are superb and creative. It is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The rooms are warm and welcoming. There are 3 beautiful rooms at the Inn. Hannah and Doug actually live next door, so one pretty much has the run of the inn during the day. There is a fireplace in the living room, so one can cozy up to it with a good book or watch a movie. The inn is a short drive from several excellent wineries, which is why we keep returning to Yadkin Valley. There are also many excellent restaurants. The Rockford Inn frequently has specials and periodically holds Murder Mystery weekends. This inn is a must!

August 2009

A delightful place to relax after a day of touring vineyards. From the sumptuous brownies on our arrival, the numerous creature comforts and the historic environment of our lodgings, we were totally delighted. Our hosts Hannah and Doug went all out to ensure we were comfortable and their full course breakfast would be the envy of any gourmet. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and we probably will !!

Great experience - We had the Vineyard Suite which was spacious and lovely. Breakfast each morning was wonderful and generous. Really charming and a good location for the many wineries in the Yadkin Valley.

Staying at your wonderful B&B couldn’t have been more perfect for Kevin and me. Coming from a long flight from Honolulu and a frantic drive from Charlotte, we breathed a sigh of relief when we opened the front door to a warm fire place and beautiful Christmas decorations. This house is charming and has a calming effect on us. I love knowing that Evelyn Holyfield was my Mom’s teacher in high school. I loved your breakfasts too, but mostly I loved our conversations. I wish you much success in the future in all of your endeavors. Blessings, Aloha! Sherry and Kevin – Honolulu, HI

October 2006
Saturday morning greeted us with bright blue skies, crisp air with a hint of morning fog – gently filling the low spots. The morning sun sharply awakened the emerging fall colors in the big oak tree outside. A cozy cup of coffee around the yard, the smell of bacon cooking near the low rock wall – wineries on the day’s menu , what a great day. A delightful home, old window panes, creaking floors, century plus timbers. A warm greeting and welcomed stay by Hannah and her family. …And we got to stay for two days! Tom and Leslie – Charlotte, NC

Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. The room was as comfortable as it could be and the food was spectacular. It was also very thoughtful to have made the superb apple cake for my 40th birthday. We wish you continued success with your many ventures and hope the future brings us back to Rockford soon. Mark and Wanda – Oak Ridge, NC

Your gracious care of this century farm and grounds are more than equaled with the friendship and care we received.
